Bio:

Marie Olofsdotter has been drawing and making up stories for longer then she can remember. She is the author and illustrator of several books for children. The book closest to her heart, SOFIA AND THE HEARTMENDER, was republished by Holy Cow! Press in 2007. The SOFIA book has been honored by a Mid-America Publishers Award, a Midwest Book Achievement Award, and a Benjamin Franklin Silver Award. Other awards include a Minnesota Book Award, as well as grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Jerome Foundation. One of Marie's most recent books, illustrations for A PICTURE BOOK OF CESAR CHAVEZ, was published by Holiday House in 2010. With THE ADVENTURES OF MEYA (AND MO), forthcoming on uTales in the fall of 2011, Marie is venturing into the world of digital books for children. Marie loves to collaborate and the MEYA AND MO book was created with Paulino Brener from Argentina.

Marie likes to inspire creative action in almost everyone she meets. Because of that, she has been working as a teaching artist & creative consultant for over 20 years. A native of Sweden, Marie now lives near the Mississippi River in Minneapolis.
