Shelley Ann Jackson

Bio:

I hold a BFA in Communication Design from the University of North Texas and an MFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts. I earned a graduate certificate in the picture book from Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2013. I have been illustrating professionally since 1994. My first picture book, "Little Lions, Bull Baiters & Hunting Hounds: A History of Dog Breeds," which I wrote, illustrated and designed collaboratively with my husband, Jeff Crosby, received a non-fiction research grant from SCBWI. It also received the gold medal in juvenile non-fiction 2008 from ForeWord Magazine. My second book, "Upon Secrecy," was included in the best books of 2010 by Bank Street College of Education and has been nominated for a 2012 Beacon of Freedom Award. My newest book, "Harness Horses, Bucking Broncos & Pit Ponies: A History of Horse Breeds," was released October 2011. I am the regional advisor for the Austin chapter of SCBWI.
