Bio:

In early October, the fourth grade students of Noble Elementary let me tag along on their field trip to Old Woman Creek, Ohio. What an energetic bunch of kids! They jumped right in collecting invertebrate specimens to later identify with the aid of microscopes. Too bad I was "working", gathering details and photos of their adventure in order to write a 700 word article. Their enthusiasm nearly pulled me into the water to seine for my own creepy critters.
Working with the kids reminded me that, although I no longer write environmental and natural resource laws for the Kentucky legislature, I still find the natural world a compelling writing subject - especially so when witnessing the discoveries of our youngest citizens. D.
