Susan Manzke

Bio:

I started out as a shy kid with a wild imagination. School was challenge, but eventually I corralled my talents and pointed them towards writing, and a life with words.

My weekly column in the Wisconsin State Farmer and the Seymour Times-Press began in 1980. Doubleday published my two romance novels Never Bring Her Roses and When the Spotlight Fades under my pen name Susan Marie in the late 80s.

Today my fiction writing skills are focused on middle grade novels and picture books. One of my picture books, All the Queen’s Crowns, won a Highlights Foundation scholarship and a Wisconsin Regional Writer’s Jade Ring. Recently, two of my stories are featured on www.superteacherworksheets.com, a free Internet site for reading comprehension and more.

I speak to groups of all ages about writing, imagination, and saving family stories. -- I especially enjoy sharing my personal story with students who struggle in school like I did. We have a common bond. – In my 50’s, I entered college and graduated magnum cum laude from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay, class of 2009.

Writing, learning and humor are a big part of the life I share with my husband, Bob on Sunnybook Farm.
