Bio:

Kathy Whitehead's interest in writing for children began while teaching at the elementary level. Her first picture book LOOKING FOR UNCLE LOUIE ON THE FOURTH OF JULY(Boyds Mills Press) was inspired by a Fourth of July parade in Texas. Her picture book biography ART FROM HER HEART: FOLK ARTIST CLEMENTINE HUNTER (G.P. Putnam's Sons) grew from a visit to Melrose Plantation, near Natchitoches, La., where Clementine Hunter lived and worked.
