Bio:

As the winner of the 2012 SLJ Trailee Award, author/illustrator Katie Davis figured it was high time she taught others to make great videos and created Video Idiot Boot Camp. She has published ten books, nine of them for children and one for adults, an ebook, How to Promote Your Children's Book: Tips, Tricks, and Secrets to Create a Bestseller. She appears monthly on the ABC affiliate show, Good Morning Connecticut, recommending great books for kids. Katie also produces Brain Burps About Books, a podcast about kidlit, a blog, and weekly newsletter.

Katie has taught in a maximum security prison teaching Writing for Children and over the last dozen years has presented and keynoted at schools, writing conferences, and fundraising galas. She's designed and run webinars to teach writers how to build their platform to support their careers and now with Video Idiot Boot Camp, is teaching writers to create videos - not just trailers - to help them expand their reach and get books into the hands of readers.

Katie is a two-time Cybils judge and has also judged the Golden Kite, smartwriters.com, and Frontiers in Writing awards. Katie's on the Advisory Board for the Brooke Jackman Foundation, a literacy-based charity and in October 2011 her book, Little Chicken's Big Day was used as the cover art for the prestigious Horn Book Guide.
