After growing up in Australia, Prue Mason travelled Australia and the world as a flight attendant and co-pilot on a private aeroplane with her husband, who is a professional pilot. They lived in Canada for three years then the Gulf region of the Middle East for twelve years. While there she worked as a writer - editing the memoirs of an Iranian lady who was a diplomat in the Shah of Iran's government before escaping to Dubai after the revolution. This book, Zelzelah, A Woman before her Time was published by Motivate Publishing in London and Dubai. Prue also worked for a children's newspaper, Young Times that was distributed throughout the region. For this she wrote feature articles, short stories and had a regular counselling column. As a CELTA trained teacher Prue also taught English as a foreign language to Arabic speakers. It was while she was living in the region that Prue wrote the first draft of her award winning and best selling novel Camel Rider.
Prue now lives in Australia in the mountains behind the Sunshine Coast and travels around Australia doing writing workshops in schools and at festivals.
Her second Middle Eastern children's novel, Destination Abudai came out in June 2009. She is currently working on the third book of her Arabic stories and continues to contribute short stories to children’s magazines around the world.
