Joyce Moyer Hostetter is the author of 4 historical novels for middle grades. Blue, Comfort, Healing Water and Best Friends Forever. Blue, was inspired by a 1944 polio epidemic in her hometown in North Carolina. It won the 2007 International Reading Association Award for middle grade fiction, Parent's Choice Silver Honor and AAUW North Carolina Juvenile Literature Award.
Joyce has directed a preschool program and taught special education. She speaks about writing, publishing, and about the history behind her books to schools, writer conferences, and conferences for teachers and librarians.
She lives in North Carolina with her husband and near her children and grandchildren.
