Bio:
Leslie Gorin has always loved hanging out with kids. At age 15 she volunteered with Project Head Start in Camden, New Jersey. She later organized a youth outreach program while a student at Wesleyan University, and worked at a preschool in Paris during a semester abroad. After college, she taught third grade and preschool on the Navajo Indian Reservation.
Looking for more ways to engage children, Leslie studied film animation at California Institute of the Arts. This led to a career as an animator, storyboard artist, and timing director. While working in film she took a year off to live in Malaysia as a Luce Scholar, where she developed a basic animation and graphic design program in Kuala Lumpur.
Teaching and filmmaking have provided the perfect foundation for Leslie to become a children's writer. Her stories, articles, and photographs have been published in Kids Tribute, Hopscotch, Home Education Magazine, Stories for Children, accepted for publication in Highlights for Children, and recorded for National Public Radio.
