Bio:

Becky Birtha is the author of two picture books, LUCKY BEANS (Albert Whitman, 2010) and GRANDMAMA'S PRIDE, (Whitman, 2005), which received a Golden Kite Honor for Picture Book Text. LUCKY BEANS, illustrated by Nicole Tadgell, is the story of an African American famiy during the Great Depression of the 1930s. GRANDMAMA'S PRIDE, illustrated by Colin Bootman, is set in the Civil Rights era, as seen from the point of view of an African American child. Becky Birtha is available for school visits and book signings. She lives in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia.
