Bio:

I was born in Almora, a small town in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand.My father was a doctor and my mother a teacher and I have three brothers and two sisters. At the age of seven I was sent to boarding school in Naini Tal and continued my education away from home, finally receiving my master in English from Allahabad University.My writing career was launched several years after my marriage to Dilip and my three daughters provided both inspiration and feedback. Now I have over 40 books published and have received several awards including a title on the IBBY Honour List in 2008. I write for adults too--both poetry and fiction and have translated several books from Hindi into English as well.
