Bio:

Betty G. Birney is the author of the popular ACCORDING TO HUMPHREY series, featuring a classroom hamster named Humphrey. There are currently six books in the series, with more to come. The Humphrey books have won seven state awards, two Children's Crown Awards and a Christopher Award.

She is also the author of THE SEVEN WONDERS OF SASSAFRAS SPRINGS, which was an honor book for the WNBA's Judy Lopez Memorial Award, a Borders Original Voices selection and on numerous state lists.

Her book, THE PRINCESS AND THE PEABODYS was a Scholastic Book Club selection.

Betty has written over 40 children's books, 200 episodes of Children's television and has received an Emmy award, two Emmy nominations, three Humanitas Prizes and a Writer's Guild of America Award. She lives in Studio City, CA.
