My family moved to Cumming, Georgia, in 2004. The school to which my children were zoned had a PTA Environmental Education Committee. Starting out as a Recycling Coordinator, I soon thereafter became PTA Environmental Education Committee Chair (2005-2010). In 2006, I founded a student Green Team, an after-school environmental club for 4th and 5th grade students. In an effort to provide other schools with environmental education programs, I founded Reaping Nature Productions in 2008. The non-profit, Reaping Nature Educational Outreach Foundation was created in 2009, and has received awards from Keep Georgia Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful.
I am a published children’s writer and a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. My storybook, The Gross Graffiti Cover-up has been purchased nationally and noted as an anti-graffiti educational tool by Keep America Beautiful. I have received awards for doing what I love, including Volunteer of the Year and Educator of the Year from Keep Forsyth County Beautiful.
I am Certified in Bacterial QA/QC Monitoring (Georgia Adopt-A-Stream) and have attended many continuing education workshops, including Confluence (GA Adopt-A-Stream - 2012); Sustainability Summit (Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center - 2011); Healthy Schools Summit (World Congress Center - 2011); Energy Workshop ConocoPhillips NEED - 2009); and Climate Change/Recycling Symposium (Keep America Beautiful - 2009).
My goal is to educate as many children and adults possible about the benefits of recycling and becoming environmental stewards in our homes, businesses and communities.
Specialties: Educating children about environmental stewardship. Developing and implementing environmental and recycling programs in schools and communities.
