Bio:

I worked in newspapers in Virginia for a dozen years before leaving in 2000 for Boston, Mass. I got a master's in creative writing from Boston University before we moved again. I'm now living in Arlington, Va., where I teach the occasional creative writing/journalism course, do some freelance writing, and work on writing for children.

The Schmutzy Family (Holiday House) and Happy Birthday, Tree (Albert Whitman) are both out now. I also have a middle-grade novel called Canary in the Coal Mine that's due out in April with Holiday House. I'll post more news soon!
