Carmela La Vigna Coyle

Bio:

Carmela LaVigna Coyle's had her 1st children's book published after her 4-year-old daughter asked the title question, "Do Princesses Wear Hiking Boots?" It was closely followed by a "sequel" Do Princesses Really Kiss Frogs? And then, "Do Princesses Scrape Their Knees? "Do Princesses Count?" and "Do Princesses Have Best Friends Forever?"

She also wrote "Thank You, Aunt Tallulah!" illustrated by Bruce MacPherson, a wacky romp through the Antarctic and beyond. "Do Super Heroes Have Teddy Bears?" illustrated by the award winning "Do Princess" series illustrator, Mike Gordon. She also has a new book arriving in Fall 2013, "The Tumbleweed Came Back" illustrated by Kevin Rechin.

Ms Coyle has long been an advocate for empowering young girls (and boys) to be strong, independent, inquisitive, adventuresome... Her princess series is being noted everywhere as an alternative book to the typical princess fare, and yet non-exclusive. Newspaper, magazines and industry blogs have referenced her books. National Center For Self Esteem ranks Carmela's Hiking Boots book third on their list of 10 Best Books for Children.

She lives and works from her cozy studio in Colorado-- always looking out her big window for inspiration.
