Bio:
Wendy Blaxland is a writer with over a hundred books published and twenty plays produced. Most of these are for children. Wendy writes both fiction and non-fiction, poetry and scripts for television and stage. Many of her books are in the field of early literacy, and her publishers include Penguin, Cambridge University Press, Macmillan Education Australia, Blake Education, Sunshine Books, Rigby, Scholastic Australia, Thomas Nelson, Barrie Publications, Electra Media, Murdoch Publications and ACER. Her Penguin Nibble 'The Princess and the Unicorn' has been adapted for BBC2 television, and her work translated into several languages. Wendy's latest series, 'I Can Cook!' was highly commended in the Women Writers' NSW Awards, and one, 'I Can Cook! Chinese Food' has been nameda Notable Book in the CBCA AWards 2012.
Her plays include original scripts and adaptations of traditional tales and children’s classics, performed by Marian Street Theatre for Young People, Killara. Wendy loves the challenge and joy of writing clearly, accurately and elegantly for that vital, honest audience: children.
