Lois Brandt weaves together diverse images and events to create stories for children. Her short fiction has appeared in Highlights, Sparkle and Pockets children’s magazines. Her story “Soccer Prayers” won the 2005 Pockets Magazine fiction contest. Lois served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Cameroon, West Africa, and has travelled widely. She is a former Ad Com member of the Western Washington Society for Children’s Book Illustrators and Writers (SCBWI). Lois received her Master of Fine Arts from the Northwest Institute of Literary Arts, where she now serves on the Alumni board. In addition to working on her own short stories and novels, Lois teaches novel and short story writing classes through The Publishing Institute at Bellevue College.
