Kathryn Hornbein

Bio:

Began writing for children after retiring as pediatrician in 2002. Took some terrific children's writing courses in Seattle, before my husband and I moved to Estes Park in 2006.

Have written/am rewriting (does it ever end?)an upper middle grade novel about a girl whose mother died on K2 (second-highest mountain in the world). Also working on an alphabet book about birds, and an ABC genre spoof. In file drawers, a half dozen picture books. Hope to start working soon on a book for children about my husband, a climber. Obviously, I have not made the great leap to published author. May that event precede my death (not yet scheduled, I hope.)

Have recently joined a start-up critique group in Boulder (still recruiting) and JUST found two children's writers in Estes Park--best news ever.

Also play viola, and scramble/hike/cross-country ski in our mountains.
