Cathy Graham writes short stories, poetry, plays, and she is working on a novel.
She is especially fond of writing for children and has taken the two children’s writing courses given by the Institute of Children’s Literature.
She also enjoys writing darker, lustier tales for adults and likes elements of humour and romance in her stories.
She writes non fiction articles and press releases. She does volunteer work at St. Patrick's Home interviewing residents and writing articles for their newsletter.
Cathy has recently had her Christmas play "Nativity Idol" published and has been published on the websites: Long Story Short, and the Long and the Short of It. She received an honourable mention for her story "Love of a Hero" in the WOW Women on Writing Winter 2009 Flash Fiction Contest. She also had her story "As Time Goes By" accepted by Storyteller magazine in the Oct/Nov/Dec issue.
Cathy has a background in graphic design and has worked in desktop publishing doing various kinds of documentation from technical publications to government reports using many different software programs. She also has skills in proofreading and editing.
Cathy lives just outside of Canada’s capital city, Ottawa and is the mom of two boys; 14 and 16. They have three cats and four dogs which makes for a lively household.
In her spare time, Cathy sings Alto 2 and plays flute accompaniment with a women’s choir. Cathy enjoys digital photography and scrapbooking as she loves to capture the moment and tell the story before it’s forgotten. She also enjoys cake decorating and thinks of it as a form of functional, edible art.
