Bio:

Deborah Underwood grew up in Walla Walla, Washington. After graduating from Pomona College with a degree in Philosophy, she worked as a street musician, puzzle writer, jewelry maker, and administrative assistant before embarking on her career as a children’s author.

Deborah has published four picture books and one easy reader. She co-writes the Sugar Plum Ballerina chapter book series with Whoopi Goldberg, and has written over 25 nonfiction books on topics ranging from smallpox to ballroom dancing. Her magazine credits include National Geographic Kids, Highlights, Ladybug, and Spider.
