Kate Messner is the award-winning author of more than twenty current and forthcoming books, including E.B. White Read Aloud Award Winner THE BRILLIANT FALL OF GIANNA Z. (Walker/Bloomsbury 2009), SUGAR AND ICE (2010), EYE OF THE STORM (2012), the MARTY MCGUIRE chapter book series with Scholastic (2011), CAPTURE THE FLAG (2012), SEA MONSTER'S FIRST DAY (Chronicle, 2011), and the New York Times Notable Book OVER AND UNDER THE SNOW (2011). Kate spent fifteen years as a middle school English teacher and earned National Board Certification in 2006. She gives frequent keynote presentations & workshops for classrooms and conferences alike.
