Frans Vischer

Bio:

I visited the Disney studio when I was thirteen years old, and was immediately smitten with animation. Encouraged at Disney, I made short animated films all through high school. I attended CalArts in 1978, and was hired by the Disney studio in 1981.
In the following years I worked at numerous studios on films such as "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" "Cats Don't Dance," "The Road To El Dorado," and "Curious George." I'm currently working on "The Princess and the Frog" at the Disney studio.
My interest in children's books goes back to my childhood. I've always loved the classics, but never considered doing a book of my own until my son Julian was born. While sketching him, an idea developed in my head which became Jimmy Dabble, a chapter book I both wrote and illustrated, which was published by Dutton in 2001.
Bitten severely by the publishing bug, I pursued numerous story ideas, which finally resulted in my first picture book, Fuddles, to be published by Alladin/Simon & Schuster in spring, 2011.
