Bio:
Denise Doyen studied creative writing, poetry and graphic design at Stanford University (B.A.) She got her masters in directing at The American Film Institute and directed/choreographed children's television for Disney including the beloved series "Welcome to Pooh Corner" and "Dumbo Circus".
She retired from showbiz to raise her sons. Later, Denise--a writer at heart--returned to school (UCLA Ext) to study writing for children.
Her first book "Once Upon a Twice", a picture book with poetic text reminescent of "Jabberwocky" (Random House), debuted to starred reviews. It was chosen for Kirkus' "Best Childrens Books 2009" and for an "EB White Read-Aloud Honor Medal".
In 2011, Denise was proud to serve as an judge for SCBWI's Golden Kite Awards, in the Picture Book Text category.
She is available for speaking engagements/school visits. Her showbiz background lends a consistent, entertaining polish to her presentations. Denise particularly enjoys appearing on panels with other writers. Contact author through her website.
