Shelly G. Cook

Bio:

After many years as a copywriter and a communications director, Shelly Cook was graduated in 1995 from Vermont College with a Master of Fine Arts in poetry. She has since taught poetry at the Nashville YWCA and the Williamson Country Recreation Center. She taught writing and composition at Middle Tennessee State University and Columbia State Community College. Her poem, "The Helium Woman," appeared in The Asheville Poetry Review. In 1998, she completed a post-graduate semester in writing for children at Vermont College, and has since attended a number of SCBWI workshops and conferences, as well as Highlights Founder’s Workshops (which she loves). She is an associate member of SCBWI and currently at work on middle grade fiction and picture books. Her family life includes her spouse, two children, four dogs, two geckos, a hamster (that bites) and two aquatic frogs.
