Frances Macaulay Forde

Bio:

Frances Macaulay Forde holds a BA in writing with a diverse background in poetry, film and theatre.
Awarded for film, poetry and writing (unpublished) for children, she was instrumental in setting up cultural associations including the Wanneroo Folk Club, New Endeavour Theatre group and in 1992, the first performance-based community youth theatre in Perth; Northern Youth Theatre.
While an active member of the City of Joondalup Cultural Advisory Committee until 1996, she developed the Peter Cowan Writers Centre - the first writers centre based on a university campus.
She has served on many different committees over the last 30 years and is experienced in working with panels and community groups including the inaugural WA Spring Poetry Festival in 2005.
After living in Ireland for a couple of years, Frances initiated and hosted Poet’s Corner and Philosopher’s Café events at the State Library in late 2005. The monthly events were an important part of the Perth poetry scene until October 2008, but her poetic involvement had to give way to screenwriting.
The short film of her script “Love You Mum” was produced in Adelaide in 2006 and has been awarded, nominated and screened in festivals around Australia, Canada and the USA. Frances currently holds the option on three teen stories and is looking for a producer and/or director for her feature film “No Strings” but has many scripts available for producers.
Frances has recently published 2 poetry and 1 children's book 'Santa's Swim' for sale during her guest appearance at the Avon Valley Writers Festival.
