Lena Coakley

Bio:

Lena was born in the small coastal town of Milford, Connecticut and grew up in Garden City, Long Island. In High School, Creative Writing was the only class she ever failed, but, undaunted, she still went on to study writing at Sarah Lawrence College. For nine and a half years, she was the Administrative Director of CANSCAIP, the Canadian Society of Children’s Authors, Illustrators and Performers, but she is now a full-time writer in Toronto, represented by Steven Malk of Writers House.

Her first novel, a YA high fantasy called Witchlanders, was published in Fall ’11 from Atheneum, S&S. It received 3 starred reviews and was called "one stunning teen debut" by Kirkus Reviews. It is an ABC New Voices selection, a JLG selection, an OLA Best Bet and a Crystal Kite winner.
