Bio:
I started my writing career a few years ago thinking I would tackle the first challenge by starting small; with a picture book. Three thousand words later, even after extensive editing, I realized that I was not meant for that particular genre.
My next move was to join the SCBWI and become active in my local chapter in Tulsa. It was there that I began to learn about my craft and where I found the courage to put more emotion onto the page, with the encouragement from our fearless leader Anna Myers. She was the first published author to tell me that I was a "real writer" and that one day I would be published if I kept at it.
With her help and the help of my wonderful critique group, four fabulous women whose invaluable feedback helped me make it through my biggest challenge so far, I reached those wonderful words "THE END" and completed my first middle grade novel.
My critique group - Barbara, Stephanie,
Sharon, and Marilyn - became like a second family to me and now I couldn't live without those beautiful women.
I am currently working on a YA novel and the next dreaded challenge of being a writer...getting published.
