Bio:
Nathalie Mvondo (pronounced mm-VON-do. The “m” is silent).
Though born in France, I grew up in Cameroon, in Central Africa, in a diverse and colorful multicultural environment: I spoke three languages by the age of seven—French, my native tongue Bulu, and then English. My tribe, Bulu, has a strong tradition of storytelling, and I blame it for the addiction I developed for children’s books.
When I’m not playing drums, globetrotting or sitting in nutrition and anthropology classes, I write for children and teenagers.
I’m a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). As such, I volunteer for my local chapter as the editor of ACORN, our dynamic newsletter.
I’m the founder of Multiculturalism Rocks!, a website that celebrates cultural diversity in children’s literature.
