Christy Beckwith

Bio:

Christy began drawing when her mother gave her a note pad and a pen to keep her quiet in church. The attempt
backfired. Christy soon discovered that she could use her drawings to entertain her brothers as well as the other
parishioners. Christy pursued her love of art by earning a BFA with an emphasis in illustration from Grand Valley State University.

Soon after graduating Christy’s card designs were featured in Target stores in Recycled Paper Greeting’s summer special. From that exposure Christy began working with My Favorite Things Rubber Stamps and helped develop their signature line of Who’s That Girl stamps. She also created a cute bunny character named Flopsey that has amassed a loyal following. Her unique designs, adherence to deadlines and flexible personality have earned her long term working relationships with both companies.

Christy’s whimsical creations have found wide appeal. They are often crowd favorites at the local art shows she participates in. She was also recently asked to contribute to NPRs yearly calender. Her illustrations have also found their way into regional publications, children’s magazines, and even embroidery designs. Christy is always pursuing new opportunities for her art work. Just as she brought smiles to her fellow parishiners she hopes to bring a smile to everyone who sees her art.
