Bio:
I have wanted to be an author since I was seven. I've always loved reading and writing and have worked as a journalist and advertising copywriter.
I had two titles, A Duel of Words and Hope for Hanna published in 2008 by Pearson Education. My first YA novel, Letters to Leonardo was published by Walker Books in July 2009, and I am currently working on an adaptation for theatre.
You can view a book trailer at my website www.deescribe.com.au and I conduct workshops for kids on how to create their own book trailers.
I also run workshops for primary and secondary students in various states of Australia with sessions focussing on story ideas, plotting and character development.
My Heroes and Villains workshops where students develop their own characters then put them into conflict have been very popular. And I run a From Portrait to Prose workshop where I demonstrate how paintings and photographs can be used to start a story.
I live in rural Australia with my husband and two children and enough animals to almost fill an ark.
