Freelance writer Jamie Weil has published numerous articles about children's matters in California's North State where she lives with her family. She graduated from UCLA with an English Literature Degree and earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Occidental College in Los Angeles. During her second grade teaching career in Manhattan Beach, California, she developed a love for picture books and is trying her hand at writing those after many SCBWI workshops and UCLA extension classes. She is also in the revision stage on her first young adult novel which she works on between assignments. She serves on the Board of Writers Forum, her local writing group, and is particularly interested in children's mental health issues. Currently, she is co-organizing the first SCBWI Schmooze in Cottonwood, California(Shasta County) with Linda Boyden.
