Bio:

I'm a mom of 3 kids, Martha (16), Ella (11) and Clifford (9).

I got my Batchelor's degree in instrumental music (viola) and education at UW-Madison. I taught high school orchestra for a couple of years, but later discovered I really loved the little kids. I got a job as a Montessori preschool assistant, took my Montessori training and drove a school bus to help support my Montessori habit. It was like coming home. At this time I renewed my love for picture books.

I married Ford and was a stay-home mom until Clifford started preschool in 2006, at which point I immediately joined SCBWI. It was the best possible start, to become part of such a fine and supportive writing community. I had already come home once professionally, but this was like discovering I'd spent 8 years there before discovering I'd been upstairs the whole time.

I'll have my butt in the chair, not isolated as I might have been, but very much connected.
