Bio:
Karen has been writing since 2006, when she retired after teaching a specialized reading program for 22 years to children with learning disabilities. Karen plunged into the world of writing for children with the same passion and commitment she had for teaching. She has five picture books in the submission process, and one chapter book completed, for which she has been seeking an agent. Karen has lived in Massachusetts and Connecticut her entire life, except for two years in Indiana (no oceans! no mountains! tornados! Oh my!). Severely asthmatic as a child, Karen couldn’t have any pets. Imagine her parents’ surprise when she married a veterinarian! She has been happily surrounded by pets ever since. Currently she has a 13-year-old cat, a blind yellow lab, and a mischievous French bulldog. Karen has two grown children, and two young grandchildren. Karen’s pets and her grandchildren have been the catalyst for most of her stories. When she isn’t writing, Karen enjoys getting together with her family and friends, traveling, reading, walking, water aerobics and kayaking.
