Bio:
Karen Robertson is passionate about finding new ways for kids to engage with reading. Inspired by her sons who were reluctant readers (one is dyslexic), Karen created a new kind of interactive book that combined the magic of stories with the fun of little toys. In June 2010, she saw the iPad for the first time and knew she'd found a way to take interactive reading to a whole new level. She launched her first book app for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch called "Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island". It's an interactive treasure hunt adventure story that sends kids on a hunt for gold with multiple ways to find the treasure. Knowing that kids become curious about things they see in books, she's launched a dedicated website with free, educational and fun content for kids that complement the book app. Treasure Kai Shark Island is the first is a series of book apps that will see Treasure Kai take kids on fictional treasure hunt adventures through history. Karen now writes and speaks about two topics: "From Children's Book to Global Brand" and "An Author's Guide to Producing Book Apps for Kids." Prior to launching Treasure Bound Books, Karen had an 18-year marketing career. Originally from Texas, Karen lives in Sydney, Australia with her husband, Chris and two sons. She loves balancing family life with being an author and entrepreneur.
