Bio:
I am Marita Gentry and I have always loved to draw. That is exactly what I love about illustrating, drawing a story into existence. Being a children's book illustrator allows me to take a few words and create the world for a group of characters. Thinking beyond the words and adding depth to what the author has put to paper. I often ask students what does and illustrator do? A lot of the times they reply, “ Draw!” I say, “You are right, but I also get to imagine”. I like to add imagination, beauty, and a spark of humor to all my books so that the reader wants to read the story and look at the pictures one more time. My school presentations are all designed to inspire students, engage their imaginations, and give them the desire to create. Being able to give children the power to be creative and use their imaginations is my passion --- what a great job!!!
