Angela Sunde

Bio:

Australian children’s author and illustrator, Angela Sunde grew up on the outskirts of Auckland, New Zealand, and spent her childhood in the family orchard, curled up with a book under one of the apple trees.

Formerly an award-winning language teacher with a broad range of experience in primary, secondary and tertiary education, Angela combined tenacity, talent and a strong desire to achieve her dream of becoming a children’s book author.

In 2010 Angela’s debut children’s book Pond Magic, was published by Penguin Australia in the Aussie Chomps series. Pond Magic tells the hilarious story of an intolerant, self-obsessed 'tween', whose relationships with her family, her best friend and a French exchange student are made all the more difficult by a little magic and a lot of burping.

Also a talented illustrator, in 2009 Angela was awarded 3rd place in the Children’s & Young Adult Conference (Brisbane Writers Festival) 'Illustrated Picture Book' category and two of her children’s stories were short-listed for the Charlotte Duncan Award, Celapene Press, Australia.

In 2010 Angela was a presenter at the CYA Conference and also gives workshops on writing and illustrating for children. Currently working on a picture book and writing a junior fantasy novel, Angela hopes to inspire the dreams of children everywhere.
