Bio:
Donna Arlynn Frisinger’s first picture book, Bink and Slinky’s Ark Adventure, has been released by Standard Publishing. It is the story of two groovy snails trying to reach Noah’s Ark before the “Great Falling.”
Like her childhood hero, Peter Pan, who never wanted to grow up, Donna carries a little fairy dust with her at all times as a constant reminder to view life through a child's eyes. As a midlife freelancer who still believes she can fly—via her retro Schwinn Bicycle, complete with handlebar streamers and ringing bell!—her life experiences as an elementary teacher, performing arts director, evangelist, and entertainer, all serve her well in her writing career as she aspires to stoke the flames of excellence in her readers.
An award-winning author and poet, Donna is the 2012, 2011, and 2009 ACW (American Christian Writer) of the Year and was named “Most Promising New Author” at the 2012 Colorado Christian Writers Conference. Published in Clubhouse, Clubhouse Jr., Ideals, Guidepost Books, Mature Living, Today’s Christian Woman, Marriage Partnership, Writer's Journal, Christian Communicator, OC (Oncourse), War Cry, and the American Legion Magazine, she won both first and second place in the 2011 Athanatos Christian Poetry Contest.
In addition to being taught by the best in the industry at dozens of writer’s conferences, including the 2008 National SCBWI Conference in LA, Donna has mentored with Golden Kite Award Winner, Rebecca Kai Dotlich, author/professor, Dennis “Doc” Hensley, and author, Michelle Medlock Adams. She is currently mentored and represented by picture book/gift book author, Karen Moore.
Told she had “two left feet” as a high school freshman, then chosen as an alternate her second year on her college dance team, Donna ended up being captain of both groups. After marrying her college band-director sweetheart, together they chalked up one championship after another in marching band and dance team competitions, including numerous state titles. In 2006, the state of Indiana named her the “Dance Educator of the Year.” As a life-long instructor in the performing arts, Donna inspired hundreds of insecure wallflowers to blossom into self-confident, purpose-driven achievers.
This lifelong "FireStarter" also organized a community-wide Bible reading marathon, helped to pioneer a thriving church (Faith Outreach Center in Rochester, Indiana), served as its worship leader, Sunday school teacher, music director, and creative arts consultant, took a group to Washington, D.C. to perform for the National Day of Prayer, and acquired her pastor’s license.
