Katy Betz

Bio:

Katy is from Southern California. She earned her BFA in Illustration from Laguna College of Art & Design in 2006. During her time at LCAD, she studied art abroad in Europe and fell in love with narrative representational painting and storytelling.

In 2008, Katy entered the graduate program at California Sate University, Fullerton (CSUF) to develop her children’s book portfolio, which won the Society of Children’s Books Writers & Illustrators People’s Choice award in 2009. She completed her MFA in Illustration in 2011.

Katy’s work has been featured in Spider magazine and she has illustrated three children's books, 1) Lost Ones: Ghosts of Paris by Christie Franke, 2) Kid in Chief by Paul Maguire, both now available and 3) First Friend, Best Friend which will be available Fall 2013.

In addition, Katy has taught 2-D Design, Beginning Painting, and Traditional Illustration at CSUF, and Children’s Book Illustration at University of California, Riverside. In August 2011, she relocated to Sarasota, FL to serve as full-time Professor of Illustration at Ringling College of Art & Design.

She is currently seeking a Literary Agent for representation.
