Bio:

Joy Chu has art directed more than 1,000 books, worked with many Caldecott award winners, and for book publishers all over the country.

Formerly art director of children's books at Harcourt in San Diego; and book designer at Holt, T.Y. Crowell, and Knopf, all in NYC; she has received numerous industry awards from Print, Step-by-Step, and Publisher's Weekly magazines; the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), and Bookbuilders West.

In addition to designing books, identity programs, and materials for business organizations, she provides a consultation service and teaches children's book illustration at UCSD Extension.
