Denise Parsons

Bio:

Denise Parsons is a writer of children's fiction but her first success at publication came in the adult, non-fiction market. She freelanced her first story after visiting the inmate wild horse program in a federal prison in Kansas. The article and photos published in Horse Illustrated and won Honorable Mention at the American Horse Publications awards. An excerpt from the article begins ANGEL HORSES, DIVINE MESSENGERS OF HOPE by Allen Anderson and Linda Anderson. She won the Children’s Writer National writing contest for an early-chapter mystery the following year.

But her mind kept coming back to her experience visiting the prison and interviewing her inmate. Wanting to bring this experience to the children's market, she embarked on a years-long YA literary novel. The submission process of this YA novel inspired her to start SubmitOctober - http://www.submitoctober.com/ - a social-media event for writers to get serious about manuscript submissions.

She is currently working on a middle grade adventure while researching and submitting her YA novel to agents.
