Regina Powers

Bio:

Regina is an ex-teacher, turned librarian who has lived her whole life within the same zip code in Orange, California. She has a degree in Child Development, a Teaching Credential, and a Masters Degree in Library Science.

Growing up, Regina was perpetually outspoken about a wide variety of issues and topics. (Co-workers labeled her "Our Lady of Opinion.") After attending writing seminars that suggested to "write what you know," Regina decided to submit her opinions to local newspapers. She has, since, had several op-ed essays appear in the Los Angeles Times, the Orange County Register, American Libraries Magazine, and other smaller publications.

She has also had a recent short story published in the Los Angeles Times Kids' Reading Room (8/14/2011), and is now finishing up a YA Historical Fiction Novel.

She has been a member of SCBWI for two years.
