Bio:

I have worked as an international educator and writer over the past 27 years and have lived in Thailand, Vietnam, Romania, India, Kyrgyzstan and Laos. I worked with Cambodian refugees, and was directly involved in the 2004 tsunami response in south India as well as founding and directing two preschools in Thailand and Vietnam.

I write children’s books with the goal of helping children develop global awareness and multi-cultural understanding. My writing is built on my personal experiences from my travels, from teaching in international schools, from working with local teachers in Asia and from raising two children in four different cultures.I have written six early elementary books -- “Red Crayons Only”, “Where am I From?”,“Attic Princess”, "Bobo's First Day at School", "My Granny has Super Powers" and “Five Star Fort”. I have recently completed a middle grade novel, “The Amazing Animal Race.” and am currently writing a children’s book about the Kyrgyz culture called “Zamira and the Snow Leopard.”

I was born in Rochester, New York. I am currently living in Laos with my wonderful husband, who works with UNICEF. We have two sons, aged 22 and 25, both born in Thailand. Our eldest son now works for a development NGO in Washington D.C and our younger son is a classical clarinetist heading to graduate school. He runs a NGO called MusAid to help musicians in developing countries.
