Bio:
Danika Dinsmore has been working and playing with children for twenty years. She co-created Washington State’s first youth poetry slam and produced the Seattle Poetry Festival’s Emerging Voice spokenword program for teens. She also created a curriculum guide for teaching poetry in the schools, which was published through a grant from the King County Arts Commission.
A seasoned spokenword artist, Danika has performed at hundreds of events. In addition to her performance work, Danika writes and teaches for the page and screen. The first book in her children’s fantasy adventure series, Brigitta of the White Forest, was adapted from one of her original feature film scripts. The novel version was published in 2011 and Book Two in the series (The Ruins of Noe) in the series, The Ruins of Noe, was released May 2012.
Danika lives in Vancouver, BC and has taught spokenword performance, creative writing, and world-building for Learning Through the Arts, Vancouver Film School, Capilano University, ABCDE Sears Drama Festival, the Creative Writing for Children Society, Vancouver Public Library, and dozens of festivals and conferences across North America.
