Bio:

Author’s Background

Lori Norman is a retired clinical social worker, bereavement counselor, educator, and school librarian. As a primary school teacher in New York, Rhode Island, and South Carolina Lori especially loved teaching children how to read and write.

As a social worker, Lori provided crisis intervention and therapy for survivors of sexual abuse at a Rape Crisis Center. In private practice, Lori specialized in sexual abuse healing for children and adults, dream work, life choices and transitions, and bereavement. She is a former member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Association for Play Therapy. She recently worked as a hospice bereavement counselor.

Lori has been a workshop presenter on various topics, as she loves sharing things she is passionate about.

Over the years, she has written children’s stories, poems, a book about children’s therapy, and a memoir.

Lori is now very happy being a homemaker and writer. She is a former member of a writers’ group in Vermont, the Tega Cay Writers’ Group (SC), and the Childrens' Writers' Group (SC). Presently she is founder and member of the SCBWI Royal Palm Critique Group (FL), a member of Joyce Sweeney's Wednesday morning Critique/Workshop Group, and is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Florida region.
