Welcome!

My name is Ekaterina (Katya) Tabakh, and I'm very glad to be working in the field of children's book illustration.

I was born in Moscow, Russia and grew up in an artistic family that taught me painting, drawing and art composition which encouraged me to go to art school, from which I graduated in 1992.

I moved to the US sometime ago and live in San Francisco, CA with my husband and two children.

I have been employed as an animator in the US and Russia, and, throughout the years, I have worked under many different art directors with very different artistic visions, who taught me to be flexible and adaptible with my style while still maintaining my own creative voice.

In the last few years I have been teaching art to kids, and watching them drawing and painting has given me extra inspiration for my own children’s book ilustrations.

As an illustrator I prefer to experiment, not confining myself to one type of illustration technique or book genre – I illustrate anything from picturebooks for toddlers to books for young adults.
