R Abramoff

Bio:

Rena Abramoff was born on May 30, 1964 in Azerbaijan (formerly part of Russia). She grew up in the section of southeastern Russia that lies between two beautiful seas, the Caspian and the Black.

Abramoff has always been a storyteller. She used to beg her mother to let her tell the bedtime tale. As a child, she wrote stories, kept a journal religiously, and loved to draw pictures. But growing up in a place where writing didn't seem to be practical and where the writers she was exposed to were mostly or “old or dead…”, it never occurred to Rena she could be one herself.

Abramoff attended Azerbaijan University in Baku, where she majored in accounting. In 1986 she took painting classes in Art School. In 1989 she joined the first and only Theatre of Marionettes in Azerbaijan as a puppeteer, and spent all her spare time there until she got married in 1990.

In 1992, due to the unstable political situation, Abramoff and her family left for Moscow and lived there for 4 years. Then, for the same reason, in 1996 she left Russia and came to the U.S.

Abramoff works as an accountant by day, but writes by night.
