Nicole Markel

Bio:

Nicole Markel graduated from Emerson College with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and an emphasis on children’s television and writing. Nicole worked as the producer for a live call-in homework assistance program in the Boston area, a scheduler for ESPN in Bristol, CT, a local computer company in her native Western Massachusetts and most recently, as the Executive Secretary for the Superintendent of the Northampton Public Schools. She and her husband Timothy were blessed with two daughters that exhibit many fey characteristics. When her oldest daughter approached Kindergarten, Nicole found that her love of storytelling and fantasy was re-ignited. She decided to rekindle that spark and put pen to paper.

Nicole is currently looking for an agent for her rhyming picture book Glick, Out Sick. Believing that “all things happen for a reason”, Nicole is inspired every week by members of her “Write Loudly” writing group. They have encouraged her to continue to find her voice and “edit, edit, edit”. Nicole has had short stories published in Southwoods Journal and is working on a parallel world, high fantasy middle grade novel. Nicole is convinced that there is no such thing as “losing the child within”; you simply have to nudge the drowsy imagination awake.
