Katrina is a professional illustrator, designer, and arts instructor hailed from a large family of hardy Welsh and Italian story tellers. Many a childhood holiday was spent gathered around the fireplace while the Aunts and Uncles took turns to stand before the hearth with booming voices and dancing hands spinning tales that brought "oooooh"'s, "ahhhhh"'s, and roaring laughter from the crowd. Katrina, a doodler since toddler, always had one foot in worlds of her own making, fairy tales, and folklore but expressed her imagination with pencils, having her favorite children's literature illustrators for mentors - Charles Schultz, Maurice Sendak, E.H. Shepard, and many others. Story books were the prized possession of this young girl who found comfort in the lessons, messages, and visuals when there might be no one else to understand her. Today she still blissfully draws and paints daily in Ohio with her two school age children in an environment that can only be described as a ‘free range' creative-living-working space of wildly imaginative expression, exploration, experimentation, and spontaneous laughter (most of the time). Katrina believes that when art and story come together miracles and magic abound. Her long term career goal is to always be part of that magic.
