Bio:

I have been writing all my life, but only began to have books for children published in 2004, after I gave up full-time work as a librarian. I have currently published ten books for children and teenagers, as well as co-editing an anthology of short stories for children. My first book Cross Tides (Longacre Press) won a New Zealand Post Best First Book Award. I have published two titles in Scholastic NZ's My NZ Story series. One is Here Come the Marines: The Diary of Lillian Glenmore, Warkworth, 1943, (formerly called A Long Way From Home) which looks at the impact of the arrival of thousands of US troops in a small rural New Zealand town during World War II. It is based on memories of people who were children at the time.

I have recently published a third novel for teenagers called Touchstone - as an e-book. This is set on the remote West Coast of New Zealand's South Island and has an environmental theme focusing on the development of a new open-cast coalmine. Within this setting my teenage heroine battles both her own lack of confidence and the adverse effects of long-term family secrets. The e-book is available at most online bookstores such as Amazon, Smashwords, and Kobo.
