Bio:
Like the main character in her debut young adult novel WHAT HAPPENS NEXT, Colleen grew up just outside of Cleveland, Ohio. She is a graduate of Kent State University and a former social worker who has worked in residential treatment centers for teens and as Program Supervisor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mahoning Valley. She recently earned her MFA from the Northeast Ohio Masters of Fine Arts consortium (NEOMFA). She now teaches fiction writing at Youngstown State University.
Colleen has led creative writing workshops for both middle grade and high school students and is available for speaking on a variety of subjects such as the craft and theory of young adult fiction, how to teach her book WHAT HAPPENS NEXT in the classroom, and general writing process. She also has a personal history with bullying that might be of interest to educators and students.
